The meaning behind LYRA

LYRA is inspired by the northern sky, symbolising direction, calm and harmony. The name reflects our belief that travel should be more than movement it should be a way to reconnect with nature, culture and yourself.

About LYRA Journeys

LYRA Journeys was founded by Johanna Englund, whose love for travel, food, nature and the sea has shaped the way LYRA experiences are designed. Her own travel life has taken her from six months in Indonesia, where she lived on Gili Trawangan and became a Divemaster, to New Zealand, where she travelled through the country, lived in Wellington for a year and worked as a chef at Field & Green. Along the way, she explored coastlines, dive sites, local food cultures and the feeling of arriving somewhere slowly enough to truly understand it.

Johanna’s background in hospitality, restaurants and premium guest experiences, including her work with Vulkana Drift in Norway gives LYRA its focus on atmosphere, service, details and care. For her, a great journey is not about doing as much as possible. It is about the right rhythm, the right places, good food, nature, comfort and the feeling of being well looked after. Everything is harmonized so you can experience a profound sense of ease and a meaningful connection to your surroundings.

Some of Johanna’s favourite Nordic places stretch from Åland to Sweden’s west coast and the Gothenburg archipelago. She is also inspired by Denmark’s food scene and Norway’s unique mix of sea, forests, mountains, hiking and diving. These places continue to shape the LYRA way of travelling: local, personal, nature-led and never rushed.
